Le Chemin Bien Foulé [al-Muwatta’]

Ce qui a été raconté concernant le taqwa – du Muwatta d’Imam Malik.

Anas bin Malik a dit: ‘J’étais sorti avec ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab’ jusqu’à un verger dans lequel il est entré, et je l’ai entendu se dire – il y avait un mur entre nous alors qu’il avait penetré jusqu’au milieu du jardin, ”Umar ibn al-Khattab, Amir des Muminun, Bravo! Bravo! par Allah, O Ibn al-Khattab, soyez sûr d’avoir du taqwa d’Allah de peur qu’Il ne vous punisse.’

From Imam malik, may Allah be pleased with him, in his Muwatta: ‘al-Qaasim bin Muhammad used to say, “I met a group of people [i.e. the Companions] who were not impressed by words”‘. Malik said, ‘What he is referring to is action: they do not look at what a person says but rather what he does.’

It is narrated that the father of Imam Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, married a woman and when he entered her marriage room he discovered she was black. He remained in thought and did not approach her. She then said to him, “Did you make istikhaara of Allah?” to which he replied, “Yes”. She then said, “Do you have any doubts as to your Lord?” – then he had sexual intercourse with her and she became pregnant with Imam Malik.
