{"id":323,"date":"2019-09-10T06:32:02","date_gmt":"2019-09-10T06:32:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.asadullahyate.com\/wordpress\/?p=323"},"modified":"2019-09-10T08:47:15","modified_gmt":"2019-09-10T08:47:15","slug":"he-came-to-allah-by-his-opposite-names","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.asadullahyate.com\/wordpress\/?p=323","title":{"rendered":"He came to Allah by His opposite names"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the tafsir, <em>The<\/em> <em>Surging Sea,<\/em> of Ibn\nAjeeba:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ishaara: <strong>When you are travelling <\/strong>in the arenas of the nafs and your journeying to the presence of utter purity is realized, then <strong>there is nothing wrong in your <\/strong>restricting the physical acts of salat, other than the obligatory, which might preoccupy you, and persist in the salat of the heart &#8211; which is secluding oneself in the utterly pure presence \u2013 <strong>if you fear <\/strong>that the sweetness of physical acts [of worship] will divert you from witnessing: one of the arifs has said, \u201cBe wary of the sweetness of actions [of worship] for they are mortal poisons\u201d; and likewise the Qutub Ibn Mashish has said about the stations of contentedness and submission, \u201cI fear that their sweetness will divert me from Allah, and Allah knows best.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for the arifs of Allah they are the greatest of\nulama as their knowledge is connected to the essence of Allah, both in their\nunveilings and tasting; as for the ulama of the outward, their knowledge is\nconnected to the legal rulings of Allah, distant from Allah \u2013 indeed they are\nthe most veiled from Allah in comparison with others. One of the awliya has\nsaid, \u201cThose who are most veiled from Allah are the ulama, then the [common]\nslaves [of Allah], then the people of zuhd\u201d \u2013 as the sweetness which they find\nin their state prevents them from moving on from it \u2013 and we have spoken above\nof this in more detail at the words of His: \u201cYou are the best nation ever to be\nproduced before mankind\u201d The Family of Imran: 110, and Allah knows best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>There is no good in much of their secret talk, except in the case of those who enjoin sadaqa, or what is right, or putting things right between people. If anyone does that, seeking the pleasure of Allah, We will give him an immense reward<\/strong> an-Nisa\u2019 \u2013 Women: 113<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Haqq jalla jalaalahu says, urging them to keep quiet: <strong>There is no good <\/strong>in their secretly talking about the thief or other matters, indeed there is no good in any talk<strong> except in the case of those who enjoin sadaqa, <\/strong>be it obligatory in the case of zakat or voluntary \u2013 in which case such people will have the same reward as [those who pay] it,<strong> or what is right <\/strong>i.e. deemed good according to the law of the shariat, and which accords with the intellect, like a loan, assisting those oppressed by worry, teaching the ignorant, guiding those astray and anything else which is \u201cright\u201d; or: <strong>putting things right between people <\/strong>by acts of reconciliation such as reconciling Tu\u2019ma [the thief] and the jew or any other two [parties]. Mujaahid has said, \u201cThis refers to people in general\u201d by which he means that there is no good in people\u2019s intimate or secret talk with each other, their getting engrossed in such [talk] unless it involves good actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 If anyone does that, <\/strong>i.e. gives sadaqa or pays zakat, does what is right, and puts things right<strong> seeking the pleasure of Allah <\/strong>i.e. sincerely for Allah<strong> We will give him an immense reward. <\/strong>Badawi has said, \u201cHe has based speech on <em>amr<\/em>, command [here translated as <strong>who enjoin<\/strong>] and made the reward conditional upon action in order to demonstrate that the inclusion of those who command, <strong>who enjoin <\/strong>among the people of good means that they are equated with people of action and that the fundament and goal is action and the command or enjoining is to be considered a means to it; moreover He has stipulated that action be undertaken in search of<strong> the pleasure of Allah <\/strong>\/100\/ as \u2018actions are by intentions\u2019 and anyone who does something good to show off or gain reputation will not merit a reward from Allah; and He has described the reward as <strong>immense <\/strong>to point out the baseness of what has passed him by of worldly interests.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Indication:\nthe ayat contains an encouragement to remain silent and this is a strong pillar\nof the path of tasawwuf, and it is one of the four pillars, [the others] being\nisolation, hunger and waking [in the night] \u2013 and which is the path of the\nbeginners \u2013 and \u201cWhoever has not beginning has no end.\u201d They have said, \u201cThe\nmore the tongue remains silent the more the heart is brought to life and the more\nit talks the more the heart is destroyed.\u201d They have also said, \u201cIf knowledge\nincreases, speech decreases, and if knowledge decreases, speech increases.\u201d Further\nthey have said, \u201cWhoever knows Allah, then his tongue is diminished.\u201d One of the\nulama was asked, \u201cWas there more knowledge in those earlier generations or the\npeople of today\u201d to which he replied, \u201cKnowledge was greater in the earlier\ngenerations while today there is more talking.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong>In His words:<strong> If anyone does that <\/strong>there is an\nindication that action is nobler than knowledge without action, and Allah ta\u2019ala\nknows best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the tafsir, The Surging Sea, of Ibn Ajeeba: Ishaara: When you are travelling in the arenas of the nafs and your journeying to the presence of utter purity is realized, then there is nothing wrong in your restricting the physical acts of salat, other than the obligatory, which might preoccupy you, and persist in [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.asadullahyate.com\/wordpress\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/323"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.asadullahyate.com\/wordpress\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.asadullahyate.com\/wordpress\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.asadullahyate.com\/wordpress\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.asadullahyate.com\/wordpress\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=323"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"http:\/\/www.asadullahyate.com\/wordpress\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/323\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":326,"href":"http:\/\/www.asadullahyate.com\/wordpress\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/323\/revisions\/326"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.asadullahyate.com\/wordpress\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=323"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.asadullahyate.com\/wordpress\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=323"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.asadullahyate.com\/wordpress\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=323"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
